Reading Homeowner’s Old Window Problems

Our clients for this case study are local homeowners located in Reading PA. They had owned their home for a while and wanted to replace some of their home’s original windows. They lived in a tudor style home that had original wood windows. They liked the look of their chocolate brown wood windows but their window functionality and energy efficiency were outdated. 1 of their windows had issue’s closing and some had air drafts. They wanted modern vinyl windows that could provide their home with more natural lighting, increased air flow, and better insulation. The Window’s Energy efficiency was a big thing for them due to the increase in their utility bills during the COVID-19 crisis and the price increases due to the energy demand and consumption.

While we were at the client’s home our window technician noticed that all of the windows were fogged up. He explained to the homeowners that window condensation was a clear indication that the window’s seal has broken. A broken seal between window panes causes energy to transfer more easily into the home which weakens the home’s insulation and energy efficiency. He wanted to make sure the homeowners understood why their windows were not functioning properly.

Our window tech also took measurements of each window opening to ensure the windows are custom sized for a perfect fit. We also showcased Okna’s window styles and color options for customization preferences. They were able to choose from 8 standard colors and endless color options from Sherwin Williams. Ultimately they decided they want to keep the traditional look and theme of their Tudor home. So they picked a custom chocolate brown exterior cladding of their window. To continue this theme they also had their windows capped with dark brown trimming. Lastly, Our representative recognized their interest for increased interior lighting so he recommended a white interior window clad to reflect more light inside their home. They loved the idea and how they could customize the exterior and interior colors of each window!
